In April 2006 I visited New Orleans to meet with newly forming Disaster Recovery Community Groups. In between meetings I ran into a few places that I loved!

When I was there, things were just starting to be repaired. I didn't get the full New Orleans experience because they had cleaned up the main part of down town and had their first Marti-Gras following Katrina. I think anyone going to New Orleans would do themselves a disservice if they missed Bourbon Street.

Then there is the food... ah, the food. The best I've ever eaten. I was only there a few days but during that time my favorite restaurants were the Herbisant Restaurant and Palace Cafe'.

Of course you can't visit without stopping at Cafe Du Monde in the morning for beignet's.

Another wonderfully decadant stop should be made at the Southern Candy Makers. Devine!

I can hardly wait to get back and I highly recommend New Orleans as a trip everyone should make!
